        Sebastian Smee is a former art writer for the Sydney Morning Herald 
        and now works for the Art Newspaper in London. His work has 
        also appeared in the Spectator, the Financial Times, the 
        Times, Prospect, the Independent on Sunday, and 
        the Australian's Review of Books. 
         
        Side by Side, his first book, is 
        about the relationship between Picasso and Matisse and was published in 
        May 2002 to coincide with an exhibition at the Tate Modern comparing both 
        their works.
