A strange but wonderful Australian novella first published in the late 1980s. It's a gentle satire on the life of a spinster living in Coogee. It's hard to describe, but a bit like a Sandy Stone monologue from Barry Humphries.

Catherine Gray's life is thrown into turmoil by her elevation to the position of secretary of the local Naturalists Society. This brings her into close contact with society president Herbert Spade, whom she has long admired from afar.

She decides to make him hers.
